The history of our practice

It was 1952 and Dr. Bruce Jagor was fresh out of dental school at Loyola University of Chicago School of Dentistry when his sister-in-law called. A friend in Atlanta was headed into the Korean conflict and needed someone to watch over his dental practice for a while. Dr. Bruce agreed. He packed up the family and drove the 700 miles from Chicago to Atlanta. What was supposed to be an 18-month favor for a friend turned into a lifelong commitment to the Atlanta community, one that has transcended generations and has lasted for over half a century. In 1965, Dr. Bruce moved into the Aaron Rents building in Buckhead and built a thriving practice. Along the way there were plenty of chances to expand and bring on additional dentists. Each time, he politely refused. “I made a decision very early on, I wanted a small practice that allowed me to focus on each patient and develop deep relationships with families,” Dr. Bruce explains.

Then in 1983, Dr. Bruce made the one and only exception when he invited his son, Tom, to join him. They have worked side-by-side ever since with Tom gradually assuming more and more responsibility for the running of the practice. In 2003, we moved into our current offices in the Medical Quarters building across from Northside Hospital.

Today, Jagor & Jagor continues to be one of the most established and trusted general dentistry practices in Atlanta. The patient relationships we enjoy span multiple generations — some going back as long as half a century. In fact, some of Dr. Bruce’s early pediatric patients have themselves gone on to become dentists, inspired by his dedication and compassion.

Over the years, we’ve seen a lot of change — both in technologies and treatments — and we continue to embrace and adopt the very best. The one constant, however, is our dedication to serving the needs of every individual patient — over the years and across the generations.
